Lauren T. Rorie, is currently a doctoral student in the Department of History at Rutgers University, specializing in African American History and Women’s and Gender History. Her research focuses on Black intellectual history, Black art and expressive culture, Black internationalism, and social-spatial practices in the twentieth century. She holds a M.A. in World History from Monmouth University and a B.A. in Africana Studies from Queens College (CUNY). Before pursuing her PhD, Lauren taught upper-level undergraduate courses that explored how Black artists addressed issues concerning race, gender, sexuality, and class within the context of U.S. history and society, utilizing visual art, literature, film, and music.
